By hermsOctober 15, in Helix. I have just had a couple of hours playing with the Native demo. I must stress that If I was a guitarist I'd have a Helix in a heartbeat.Geforce rtx 2060 super not detected
But, I was completely underwhelmed with the general bass content. But I sadly have to disagree. Having only 2 dedicated bass effects EBS octaver and Darkglass distortion just isn't enough. I couldn't find a useable filter, and hardly any of the other effects have a blend control which doesn't make them bass friendly. I have the same issue with the cab choices - why so many 10" choices - 4x10, 6x10 or 8x Or some old 1x15 or 1x18 from the 70s. So many bassists today are using 1x12s and 2x12s.
The equipment in the bass world has changed significantly compared to even 10 years ago. The sheer number of bass drive pedals out there is nuts. So many choices of modern different sounding rigs yet they're not here. Come on Line 6, it's time to catch up.
I had put down a deposit on a HX Stomp but I am about to cancel that. I'll happily come back and try again if there's more bass content but until then I'll stick with my Zoom MS60B still a cracking swiss army knife of effects on my board.
Line 6, you have done an outstanding job for the guitarist, that I can't argue with.
Think of how many more units you could sell if the bass content was as varied as the guitar. I sympathize with your plight And if there is one, I'll bet that it's lackluster on both ends.
You're never gonna find all that in one boxAs always, my patches are made for recording and sound best in a mix. The PV Panama is based on the Peavey amp and this patch was made with 7 string guitars in mind.
The guitar patches feature the Helix German Ubersonic amp model, which is probably my favourite for metal at the moment. The GN Distorted Bass carries the low end but also has a bit of fizz to help it cut through. The GN Heavy Lead patch is a modified version of the rhythm patch. The tone is altered slightly and it also has a bpm synced delay. If you are using it without being connected to a DAW you will have to adjust the bpm setting manually.
Please note — These patches have been designed to be used together. They are exactly what you hear in the video but the sound is using my own guitar and bass. As your equipment will be different, you are advised to tweak them slightly to suit your own guitars and setup. They are made with recording in mind so will require further editing before live use.

I'm primarily a guitarist but recently picked up the bass and have been looking for helix bass patches on custom tone - unfortunately I haven't been able to find much and the factory presets aren't as 'boomy' and present as I'd like.
For bass, as with guitar, the best thing to do is look at the gear the artists you want to sound like and try to get gear as close as possible to it. On bass I have found it is best to run parallel paths from the get go. Keep one path clean except f or maybe a couple EQs for a bass, mid, or treble boost.
Then on the second one put your effects you want to use. I forget the name of it but they do have this amp modeled in the helix. I would just being the gain down and volume up to clean it up unless you want a bit of grit.Iti ke baad kya course karna chahiye
Two effects I've liked is the mystery filter set pretty mildly and then for some grit take on of the leslie rotary blocks crank the gain put the speed to minimum vaue and use the mix between horn and speaker as a tone knob. It's killer for guitar too but it makes this really fat unique drive that I really dig. I've had luck with bass sounds by running into a compressor block then splitting the chain. One path runs into a bass model and cab. The lower path is just a DI and i use the expression pedal to blend the two paths.
I totally forgot about CustomTone. Been posting presets on dropbox. I'll post the one I use live when I get back to my computer. It has some nice stomps too. The 10 band graphic EQ right before the volume pedal at the end is to adjust for whatever stage or room you are playing in. Luckily I havent had to mess with it, but it's there if I need it. The filters after the amp, and in the before and after positions of the Mod blocks, were deliberate as I thought they sounded best in those locations.
Line 6 Helix Presets
It's a little different that I ran those types of effects on my physical rig. What speakers or headphones are you running the Helix through? When I first started I was running through a stage wedge and it sounded like garbage. After talking with a bassist, I believe some of the music I was hearing was performed on a bass with active pickups, hence the much brighter, snappier tone. You may be able to emulate that sound to some extent by turning the sag all the way down and lowering the bias setting on the Helix cab as well as tweaking your compression and EQ settings.
You may also want to play with a low cut to tighten up the bottom a bit. I would also make sure it is a "hot" preset with plenty of level to emulate the active pickups.
Setting the impedance to a higher number in global settings may also help. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account. Note: Your post will require moderator approval before it will be visible. Paste as plain text instead.

Warning about downloaded tones, patches and presets. These presets represent most of the basic tones that I would need to get through a gig, with a few options for each one, as well as a few wacky, fun presets with lots of fx.
Taste is subjective, but the goal is to have basic, usable sounds as a base so you can create your own gig-worthy song presets.
I tried not to use any EQ blocks in any of these presets, opting to just use the amp model EQ and give you enough room as possible for future tweaking, simply trying to tailor the cab IR to the amp model for the best possible match. You will need the Line 6 Helix Editor software to import these presets individually into your Helix. Further instructions can be found in the information sheet. The sound samples below were recorded direct into ProTools 10 via an Apogee Ensemble interface with no compression, EQ, or processing added.
Please excuse the sloppy playing. Download [ Finally, some presets that make me want to play my Helix! Was not too happy with how hard it is to get Helix to sound great for what I want to hear. MB you have hit it out of the park with these!!! Presets are fantastic, but what make a huge difference for live use of Helix are the included IRs collection.

It also has a very nice clean Jazz tone when the Organ is disengaged.Update HX Edit and your hardware unit to the latest firmware before installing presets, or you will get an error in HX Edit when importing. My presets are designed for loud live performance in a band mix, so the amp and drive tone is darker than you may be expecting. This may not sound as full when listening at low volumes but in a live mix it will stand out and sound great because our ears are more sensitive to higher frequencies at higher volumes.
All of my presets are designed to be used in stomp mode on Snapshot 1. Some presets have other snapshots with different sounds, or an ambient volume swell pad sound on Snapshot 4. This allows you to quickly and seamlessly switch to ambient parts without sacrificing a footswitch in stomp mode. Feel free to modify the other snapshots to best fit your workflow. If you wish to use Impulse Responses, some of these have optional recommended Impulse Responses listed.
